Biography
Mara Livezey joined the faculty of Detroit Mercy as an instructor of Chemistry in 2018, and as assistant professor of Biochemistry in 2019. As a native Michigander, Livezey was drawn back to Michigan for her career, and stayed because of the impact of the Detroit Mercy mission, values and connection to the surrounding community. Livezey teaches biochemistry class and laboratory, a class for non-majors on How Drugs Work, and organic chemistry. Livezey has interests in the field of Chemistry Education, and in particular learning about, implementing, and studying equitable and inclusive teaching practices in the classroom. She is also passionate about social and racial justice issues, and is a member of the Science, Technology and Race learning community on campus.
