Biography

Kendra Evans, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, teaches general chemistry and general chemistry laboratory for science and engineering students. Her research, which falls in the field of bioanalytical chemistry, involves the development of high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry instrumentation and methods to measure biological substances such as proteins and metabolites. Living organisms are known to exhibit a wide variety of cycles, which are believed to have important roles in diseases such as diabetes. However, the mechanism and implications of many of these cycles remain poorly understood. Evans’ research is targeted toward the development of continuous, long-term measurement of molecules produced by living cells to enable enhanced study of biological cycles. 

Evans earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Western Kentucky University and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Michigan. She joined the University in 2009.
