Biography

Danielle Maxwell (she/ella) graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy with a B.S. in Chemistry in 2019 and returned as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry in 2024. Following her B.S., she earned a M.S. in Chemistry, a M.S. in Educational Studies, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Michigan. Dr. Maxwell is an equity-centered chemistry education researcher whose research focuses on the science identity development of racially minoritized undergraduate students and transforming undergraduate chemistry curricula to be more justice-oriented and culturally relevant. As an educator, Dr. Maxwell is committed to advancing equitable chemistry education and centering the mission and values of the University of Detroit Mercy in her teaching.
