Biography
Dr. Levi Storks is a neuroethologist specializing in the evolution of cognition and the brain in lizards, fish, and other ectothermic vertebrates. His research combines neuroanatomical, neuromolecular, and behavioral methods to understand cognitive and neural mechanisms at multiple biological scales. He earned his BS in Zoology from Michigan State University and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri. He joined the Department of Biology at the University of Detroit Mercy as an Assistant Professor in 2024.
Dr. Storks is not only committed to advancing scientific knowledge but also to engaging with the broader community. He has been actively involved in public outreach initiatives, including founding the "Science on Scales" program and serving as the executive committee chair for "Science on Wheels" at the University of Missouri. He has presented his research at national conferences, contributed to popular publications, and mentored numerous undergraduate students. He has taught courses in evolution, ecology, genetics, and biostatistics. Dr. Levi Storks is a dedicated scientist, educator, and advocate for science communication and community engagement.
