Accessing or Renewing Your Accommodations

Your accommodations are approved. What next?

Once your accommodations are approved, the Access Specialist will contact you to explain how to access your accommodations and request that notification be shared with your professors.

McNichols Campus

  • Undergraduates and graduate students at the McNichols Campus decide each semester in which courses they will use their approved accommodations. Student Accessibility Services will then notify those professors of the student’s accommodations.

  • Students enrolled at the McNichols Campus who want to use their approved disability accommodations for the upcoming term, must complete a SEMESTER REQUEST.

Corktown, Riverfront, Novi Campuses

  • Graduate and professional students at the School of Dentistry, School of Law, and School of Optometry will receive specific information about accessing accommodations in your program.

Renew your accommodation EVERY Semester

Complete a Semester Request to notify the faculty of your choice of your accommodations. Visit the ACCOMMODATE website.

This does NOT require re-enrollment and will only take seconds to complete.

How to Complete a Semester Request

  • Visit:  ACCOMMODATE
  • Click: STUDENT box
  • Click: ACCOMMODATIONS from the left menu
  • Click: SEMESTER REQUEST
  • Click: ADD NEW
  • Select: Upcoming term
  • Select: APPLY SEARCH
  • Select: SUBMIT FOR ALL ACCOMMODATIONS
  • Semester Request is completed

It is the student’s responsibility to meet with each professor at the beginning of the term to discuss their accommodations and how they will be implemented in the course.
