Reporting Discrimination, Harassment or Retaliation
If you have experienced discrimination, harassment, retaliation or sexual violence, or if you have concerns about these or related issues, there are a number of ways to share your concern. You may contact the Executive Director of Equal Opportunity and Title IX Coordinator or any member of the Nondiscrimination Team by phone or email, schedule an in-person or virtual meeting or use the online reporting form to Make a Report of Harassment or Discrimination to get in touch with us.
When you contact the Office of Equal Opportunity, we will discuss your options for support and resolution. The party who reports a concern or complaint is called the complainant. In most cases, complainants may decide on the response the University takes. The possible courses of action after submitting a concern or complaint are:
Supportive measures
Supportive measures exist to restore or preserve access to the University’s education program or activity and may include:
- Referral to counseling, medical or other healthcare services
- Referral to community-based service providers, including crisis lines or shelters
- Student financial aid counseling
- Changes to campus housing assignments
- Changes to work arrangements for employees or student-employees
- Safety planning
- Implementing contact limitations or no contact orders
- Academic support, extensions of deadlines or other program modifications
- Changes to class schedules; facilitation of withdrawals or leaves of absence
Alternative resolution
Alternative resolution is an option in certain circumstances. Both the complainant and respondent must agree to the resolution, which typically consists of 1-3 meetings with the Executive Director or other designated party to discuss the alleged violations and explore possible remedies. Alternative resolution is not subject to appeal by either party after a resolution has been reached.
Administrative resolution
Administrative resolution is accomplished through an investigation and a review of all relevant evidence. Investigations are conducted by trained members of the Nondiscrimination Team, and are thorough, reliable, impartial, prompt, and fair.
