Biography

Prof. Thompson teaches didactic and clinical courses in periodontics to dental and dental hygiene students, accelerated dental students, and graduate periodontal residents. She holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery, Master of Science in Periodontics and a Certificate of Periodontics from the University of Detroit Mercy. She engaged in a general practice residency at the John D. Dingell VAMC. She has practiced as a private general dentist and continues to proudly serve veterans at the Detroit VAMC on a part time basis.

She became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 2012 and recertified in 2018. She received the American Academy of Periodontology Educator Award in 2017. She also received the Metropolitan Youth Day Outstanding Alumni Award in 2017. Prof. Thompson received the ADEA/AAL Chairs and Academic Administrators Management Program Scholarship and recently attended the Bell Leadership Institute.
