Biography

Dr. Pranit Bora is a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Clinic Essentials and Simulation at University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. He joined UDM in 2024, bringing with him a strong academic and clinical background in prosthodontics, dental materials and simulation-based education.

Before joining Detroit Mercy, Dr. Bora completed his Master of Science and Certificate in Dental Biomaterials at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where his work focused on the material properties of restorations and their clinical applications. He also holds an M.D.S. in Prosthodontics from K.M. Shah Dental College and a B.D.S. from Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, India.

Dr. Bora teaches across multiple areas, including fixed and removable prosthodontics, implant dentistry, dental anatomy, occlusion and digital workflows. He is actively involved in curriculum development, simulation-based training and academic mentorship.

    3D Printing in Dentistry

    • Investigating additive manufacturing techniques for the fabrication of crowns, dentures and hybrid prostheses using novel resin and ceramic-based materials.

    Dental Biomaterials

    • Evaluation of material properties, such as fracture resistance, flexural strength, color stability and biocompatibility of materials used in fixed and removable prosthodontics.

    Implant Prosthodontics

    • Research on implant-supported restorations, abutment designs and screw-retained vs. cement-retained prosthetic outcomes.

    Denture Base Materials and Hygiene

    • Studies involving conventional and digitally fabricated denture base resins, antimicrobial coatings and innovative denture hygiene devices.

    Full-Mouth Rehabilitation and Occlusion

    • Exploration of occlusal schemes and philosophies in full-mouth reconstructions using digital and conventional workflows.

    Provisional Materials and Luting Agents

    • Analysis of the mechanical and adhesive properties of temporization materials and resin cements in clinical applications.
