Biography
Kimberly Raleigh '01, '06 graduated from Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and later earned a Master of Health Services Administration. She recently completed a Doctor of Education at A.T. Still University, where her research focused on microlearning and cognitive load theory in healthcare education.
Since 2009, Raleigh has served as director of the Institute for Advanced Continuing Dental Education, Communications and Alumni Relations at UDM's School of Dentistry. She oversees the development and execution of more than 100 professional education programs annually, serving more than 6,000 participants.
In addition to her work in continuing education, Raleigh manages alumni engagement and communications for Detroit Mercy Dental. She leads strategic initiatives that strengthen alumni relationships, including mentorship programs, reunions and networking opportunities. She also directs institutional communication efforts, ensuring that students, faculty, alumni and stakeholders remain connected and informed through digital, print and social media platforms.
Raleigh has served in leadership roles for national and regional professional organizations, including the Association for Continuing Dental Education and the Detroit District Dental Hygienists’ Society, both of which she served as president. She has presented at national conferences and contributed to discussions on lifelong learning, educational technology and alumni engagement. She has a passion for strategic planning and enjoys volunteering to support professional and community initiatives.
Beyond her work at Detroit Mercy, Raleigh serves as interim executive director of the Michigan Oral Health Coalition, where she leads initiatives focused on oral health advocacy, workforce development and community partnerships to expand access to care. Under her leadership, MOHC's continuing education participation has increased by 815% in two years with expanded offerings in online training programs designed to meet the evolving needs of dental professionals.
Raleigh lives with her family in Novi, Mich., and is passionate about the transformative power of education. She believes that Detroit Mercy’s commitment to academic excellence and emphasis on personal attention allow students to thrive in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
