Sherman named NCAA Woman of the Year nominee

Former University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country and track and field standout Allison Sherman '24 was selected as one of two nominees for NCAA Woman of the Year by the Horizon League.

Sherman majored in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University and earned the Department of Athletics' highest honor with the President's Award during the 2023-24 school year. She was the Horizon League Sportsmanship award winner in cross country and the co-winner following the indoor track and field season.

The Lake Orion, Mich., native was a nine-time All-Academic Team recipient and earned All-League honors four times in cross country, also breaking a 20-year-old school record in the 10-kilometer distance during track and field in 2024. Sherman also holds the school record in the 5,000 meters.

Since 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year program has recognized graduating female student-athletes for excellence in academics, athletics, community service, and leadership throughout their college careers.
