FAFSA data delayed after Department of Education error
The Department of Education recently announced a timeline update for the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
All FAFSAs that have been submitted are in a holding period until the Department of Education makes a correction in updating numbers in the FAFSA formula. This correction will result in more students getting more financial aid, but the fix will take time.
Unfortunately, this means the government will not be releasing FAFSA data to any higher education institutions until mid-March at the earliest.
With this new reality, the University of Detroit Mercy Financial Aid Office is working to prepare as much as possible ahead of the release of FAFSA data. The Office wants to be a proactive partner with students and their families, working as quickly as it can to provide accurate financial aid offers as soon as possible.
Students and families who have already completed the FAFSA can read about the post-processing experience for students on the Department of Education website, which has information on what they should receive to confirm their FAFSA has been processed.
The 2024-25 FAFSA webpage will continue to be updated as UDM learns more information.
