ID Cards

Student and Employee ID Cards

University ID is required at all times for students, faculty, staff and vendors while on campus.

How to Register for an ID Card

  1. Download the free GET mobile app. In the app, select University of Detroit Mercy and enter your My Portal credentials. Establish a PIN for the app.
  2. Upload a selfie or headshot.
  3. Within 24 hours, you will be notified whether your photo has been approved or rejected.

You may pick up your ID card at the respective campus location (days and hours vary per campus location). You must provide your Titan ID Number (T12345678) to receive your ID.

Students

ID cards must be validated each enrolled term. To validate an ID card, please visit the parking & ID office to request a new, free sticker for each term enrolled.

There is a $25 charge for a replacement ID card, which will be billed to the student's account within 30 days of replacement.

Employees

There is a $25 charge for a replacement ID card. The fee may be paid in cash, check or payroll deduction.

Your ID card is more than just identification

Detroit Mercy ID cards allow you access to campus amenities, such as:

  • Scan access into campus buildings (including the Fitness Center and Library)
  • Scan access through campus entrance gates
  • Check out books from the Library
  • Purchase Theatre Company tickets at the student rate (students only)
  • Attend Detroit Mercy home athletic events for free (students only)
  • Access your meal plan/flex balance information (munch money and Starbucks)
  • Quad Commons – printing, sums boxes

Please note:

Photos will not be taken onsite (Exceptions are made for university vendors and those with international devices that are not compatible with the iOS operating system).

All ID photo submissions should adhere closely to passport photo standards:

  • In color
  • Sized such that the head consumes 69% of the space
  • Taken within the last month to reflect your current appearance
  • Taken in full-face view directly facing the camera
  • With a neutral facial expression and both eyes open
  • Taken in clothing that you normally wear on a daily basis
  • Uniforms should not be worn in your photo, except religious clothing that is worn daily.
  • Do not wear a hat or head covering that obscures the hair or hairline, unless worn daily for a religious purpose. Your full face must be visible and the head covering must not cast any shadows on your face.
  • Headphones, wireless hands-free devices or similar items are not acceptable in your photo.
  • Sunglasses are prohibited.
  • ID card photo submissions are approved during business hours only and within 24 hours of submission. Any photo submitted on the weekend will be reviewed on Monday.

  • Failure to display your ID on campus may limit campus services and could result in a conduct referral to the Dean of Students Office.
