Biography
Erin Bell is the director of the Writing Center at the University of Detroit Mercy. Previously, she was the assistant director for educational development at the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL).
Bell has been teaching at the college level since 2010 and has taught a variety of courses including academic writing, composition and literature. She has taught surveys of African American and American literature and at other institutions, including Wayne State University and Marygrove College in Detroit.
Bell's research has focused on women’s writing, feminist theory and popular culture, and she is particularly interested in the intersections between post-humanism, gender and sexuality as portrayed in contemporary science fiction.
Prior to working in higher education, Bell worked in print and broadcast journalism for several local outlets and as a conference organizer for a national student assistance organization. She joined the University in 2022.
