Biography

Dr. Michelle Story-Stewart is an adjunct professor of Community Development at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Architecture & Community Development. She taught Developing Commercial Corridors for a couple of years, starting in 2013. Dr. Story-Stewart also facilitated skills workshops in budgeting and leading nonprofit teams. She recently started teaching Economic Development in the MCD program.

Her research interests include ethnographic research and a historical review of federal urban policy over the last 60 years, including the various tools used to implement them. Previously, Dr. Story-Stewart served as the CFO of the Detroit Land Bank and as a senior program officer at both the Detroit and Cincinnati Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) offices. Dr. Story-Stewart and her husband have three adult children and reside in Detroit.
