The Detroit Collaborative Design Center (DCDC) will take its design philosophy to community leaders in Memphis, Tenn., and Milwaukee, Wisc., thanks to a $39,000 grant from The Kresge Foundation.

The funds will be used to provide community engagement training and support to community planning teams in Memphis, Tenn., and Milwaukee, Wisc.

The DCDC will help the planning teams define a comprehensive civic engagement and participation strategy. It will also train and advise planning teams in both cities on how to develop processes to encourage broad-based community participation in planning, taking into effect the specific cultures, character, history, needs and opportunities of each city.

The Kresge Foundation has, for years, generously funded the work of the DCDC and its commitment to effective urban policy.
