Great Things At Detroit Mercy

  • Every Detroit Mercy Law faculty member has practiced law, so you will be taught by full-time faculty members with the practical experience they bring to the classroom.
  • Our clinical program is among the oldest in the United States and is consistently recognized for its excellence.
  • Our Law Firm Program, which offers students the opportunity for simulated practice with expert practitioners, prepares students to hit the ground running when they enter the world of practice.
  • Detroit Mercy’s Externship Program allows students to receive academic credit for service as a legal intern for a judge, governmental agency or a nonprofit.
  • Detroit Mercy offers unique opportunities through Law Review, the Moot Court Board of Advocates and the Solo & Small Firm Incubator.
  • Detroit Mercy Law and the University of Windsor collaborated to create the Canadian & American Dual J.D. Program, a unique dual Canadian and American law degree program. The Dual J.D. is the only comparative program of its kind in Canada or the United States in which students can earn two law degrees in only three years. Graduates of the program are eligible to be licensed in both the U.S. and Canada.
  • Students enrolled in the joint J.D./MBA program earn both degrees in significantly less time than would be required for the degrees if they were pursued separately. The integrated course of studies allows students to connect business and legal concepts such as accounting practices with tax law or labor management relations with labor law.

Your Boundless Future

Lawyers are among the highest paid professionals in the legal industry with the median annual salary of more than $110,000. The world’s top lawyers earn million-dollar incomes. Lawyers can work for a private practice, in-house for a business, in government, public interest or many use the skills developed in law school in non-legal careers.
