Great Things At Detroit Mercy

  • All engineering students are required to complete three semesters of co-op — actual, paid work — that allow them to graduate with real industry experience.
  • Try out a number of focal areas within the field to help you decide which area you like best. Plus, alternate degrees in Architectural or Environmental Engineering give you plenty of options.
  • All courses are taught by faculty members — not teaching assistants or graduate students.
  • Small class sizes — our average student-to-teacher ratio is 11:1; that means plenty of individualized attention aimed at making sure our students succeed.
  • In the tradition of our Jesuit and Mercy sponsors, Detroit Mercy offers a well-rounded education. We don’t just teach engineering; we create community leaders.

Your Boundless Future

A civil engineering background opens you up to numerous highly sought after, well-paying jobs. Choose from a variety of career opportunities, including architectural firms, private consulting companies, developers, government, and human service organizations. As such, CEEs have opportunities to relocate, travel, or stay right at home for exciting careers.

“I came here and started working on my major my freshman year. That’s because at Detroit Mercy you’re directly admitted into your program. My co-op gave me a lot of insight and I graduated with a full year of experience in my field—a real resume builder and a tremendous opportunity to network and succeed.”
